The JDRF Children’s Congress was fun!  I met children from all over America with type 1 diabetes.  The first day everyone passed out pins and things from their state.  Mary Morgan and I passed out the Georgia State flag.  It was a fun way to meet all the kids.

We met Children’s Congress members and we had a question and answer part with awesome people with t1!! An actor, two people in bands, an NFL player, a professional golfer and Aaron K. from JDRF. Later we met Miss America and she let my mom try on her crown. We learned about the importance of Medicare paying for the CGM.

BK4The next morning we met at 6:30 am and took a bus to the Capitol.  We were all wearing blue shirts. We were everywhere!!

Mary Morgan and I made calls with Emma.  She is from Austrslia and has t1 too.  We traveled with our moms to the Senate and to the Congress.  We ran to our meetings and there were blue shirts every where!!

Our first stop was Senator Purdue.  His assistant saw us and we explained the importance of CGMs for Medicare people.  We also showed our scrap books. Later we met Senator Johnny Isakson.  He was very nice and talked to each of us.

Bobby with John LewisMy favorite was meeting with Congressman John Lewis. He showed me the porch outside his office and they stood me on a chair for a picture!  He was so nice and said he would co-sponsor the bill.  He signed it that day!!!

I would like to go to DC again with JDRF.
