JDRF Georgia’s Executive Director

What’s your connection to type one (in your own words)?
I am fortunate that my immediate family has not been impacted by T1D.  But my connection and motivation has become the hundreds of families I’ve encountered and gotten to know through my association with JDRF.

Why did you decide to ride for JDRF?
Frankly, I needed to get in shape!  I’m passionate about the work I do for JDRF.  So what better way to support “my” cause than to also support my personal fitness?

How many years (roughly) have you been riding?
I had not ridden a bike since college until the day I was approached by the JDRF ride coach in Memphis, TN who personally challenged me to a 100-mile ride in Death Valley with the West TN team.  That was 4 years ago and I’ve enjoyed it ever since.

What are you most looking forward to about the Ride to Cure Diabetes?
The ride almost takes a back seat to the camaraderie and mutual sense of purpose you share with hundreds of other riders from across the country all supporting JDRF.  Of course, the destinations are great!  This year, I’ll be “suffering” for JDRF in Lake Tahoe.

What’s your favorite post-ride treat/snack/meal?
Any form of grilled meat, and maybe a celebratory malt beverage.

If you could Ride anywhere other than Tahoe, where would it be?
Piedmont Road at 5:00 . . . now that’s a challenge!
